Skeptics in the Pub Meetings - 2000

I Subj: Skeptics in the Pub Meetings - 2000
Date: 01/11/2000 10:50:18 AM Eastern Standard Time

As you will recall from last year, 'Skeptics in the Pub' is a regular
evening meeting (usually on the third Thursday of the month in the Florence
Nightingale pub) for all those interested in or skeptical of the paranormal,
alternative medicine, psychic powers, pseudo-science, UFOs, alien
abductions, creationism, Fortean phenomena, cult religions, water-divining,
lost civilizations, etc. The intention is to continue holding meetings in
the Florence Nightingale on the third Thursday of the month during 2000.

Unfortunately, we haven't got off to a good start this year. A meeting was
planned for JANUARY 20th but has had to be cancelled as the pub room
was not able to be secured for the meeting.

The good news is that the FEBRUARY meeting will go ahead!

 DATE - Thursday, February 17th
 TIME - 19:30
PLACE- Upstairs in the Florence Nightingale pub
 199 Westminster Bridge Road,
 London, SE1,
Junction with York Road, on the roundabout, near Waterloo station.

The speaker for February is Mike Howgate. Mike will give a talk entitled
'TACKLING CREATIONISTS'. Mike is a founder member APEMEN (Association for
the Protection of Evolution) and I'm sure Mike will be able to dispel any
suppressed concerns anyone might have that the world really was created in
 4004 BC!

The talk will be followed by informal discussion in a relaxed and friendly
pub atmosphere. Guest ales and food available. Non-skeptics are welcome and
you can turn up at any time during the night.
